I have some really special news to share—I've been selected as a 2025 Kerrville New Folk Finalist! If you know me, you know how much I care about the craft of songwriting, and Kerrville has always felt like a sacred space for songwriters who lead with heart. I’ll be heading back to Texas at the end of May to share a few of my songs and soak in the magic of the festival.
Thank you for being on this journey with me. Your support is what makes moments like this possible, and I’m so grateful.
“Cul-de-sac”, the 2nd song from AJAYE's acoustic record “Silverline (Live at the Henhouse)” is now available on all streaming platforms, along with her live performance video.
Cul-de-Sac was inspired by a time in my life where everything felt... fine. Not terrible, not amazing—just stuck. I was doing all the things I thought I was supposed to do, but deep down, I knew I was looping through the same emotional patterns over and over. Safe, familiar, and honestly—exhausting.
The song came out of that realization. That sometimes, the hardest thing isn’t breaking down—it’s admitting that “fine” isn’t enough anymore. That maybe we weren’t meant to stay in the cul-de-sacs we build for ourselves—those loops of comfort, fear, and old stories that keep us from growing.
Leaving isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s slow. Gentle. Sometimes it’s just one quiet decision to want more—for yourself, for your heart, for your life.
That’s what this song is about. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt the itch to leave the known behind. Who’s stood at the edge of change and thought, “Maybe I’m ready.”
If you’re in that place now, I hope Cul-de-Sac reminds you that you're not alone. And that you’re allowed to want more.
I've got exciting news to share…I've been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2025 Songwriter Serenade Songwriting Competition. I'll be performing alongside this talented group of songwriters on May 3rd, and tickets are available here. The judges include Susan Gibson, Walt Wilkins, Josh Grider, and Kim Richey. Not in Texas? The event will be live streamed (more details to come soon). It'll be a great weekend of music, the beautiful countryside of Texas, and of course, Texas brisket!
